A message from Idwal, Country Lane Tours
After over 21 incredible years of operating our own unique package touring programmes in Wales, tours such as ‘Land of my Fathers’ ‘Village Life in Wales’, Castles, ‘Culture & Country Lanes’ and others, the time is now right to slow down and reduce the workload.
Happily, this does not spell the end of the business. I’m delighted to announce that Cambria Tours, the prestigious tour operator based in Aberystwyth on the west coast of Wales has acquired the goodwill and trading name of Country Lane Tours. Also, and as importantly, I’m pleased to hand over my cherished business to a ‘Wales- based’ organisation that share my own ethos and passion for this beautiful country of Wales.
Cambria Tours is a young dynamic organisation which is equipped to offer a much wider range of services than I ever could, and as I hand over the reins, I’m confident that my trade partners and loyal customers will continue to have access to authentic, local experiences.

Finally, as Gwyneth and I look to the future we look forward to having more time with our delightful grandsons, Noa (5) and Owi (2), to travel and pursue our hobbies. It will not be total retirement as I still have a small coach transport business and will continue to do ‘Day Tours’ in Snowdonia and the Isle of Anglesey, ‘Cruise Excursions’ and so on. Nothing too strenuous and stressful!

Over the last few weeks, I have been cleaning out the cupboards and an old desk, finding files, photographs, ‘thank you’ cards, and letters going back to the early days of Country Lane Tours. Happy memories flood back. It’s been a wonderful career. Thank you to all who’ve travelled with me and for the loyalty shown to Country Lane Tours by my trade partners from all over the world.
